Tips on How to Prepare for Your Commercial Moving
Here are some tips to help you prepare for your move.
Donate Office Equipment and Items That Are Not Needed
Now is the best time to get rid of any old phones, printers, copiers, office furniture and PC’s, even office supplies which are no longer needed or wanted. Why pay for items you do not need any more when you can recycle them, or even get a tax break should you donate them to a registered charity?
When Moving, Start the Packing Process Early
Try not to wait until the last minute. Should you be moving your business, begin packing things that are not used regularly as soon as possible. Many people underestimate how much time it takes to pack. Should you have a large amount of items to go through, add a few weeks to the time you think it will take you to pack. If you wish to save on the price of packing, think about buying used boxes and supplies.
Hiring a Moving Company
If you are planning to hire a mover, contact them at least 2 months in advance. Make sure to get multiple price quotes and to also ask them for proof of insurance. Should the mover be packing for you, note that most companies will not make any decisions for you, they will pack everything, ranging from trash cans that still have trash in them and refrigerator with food still inside. Make sure to take care of any perishable items, or you will end up with rotted food and garbage being moved with you.
Number Your Boxes Should You Hire a Commercial Moving Company
Make sure to clearly mark all boxes on the tops and sides, this helps you locate items faster if you have to unpack something before moving or after you have moved. If you only mark the top, this will make it more difficult to find things faster. Should you have several boxes, it it better to have a numbering system, thus avoiding losing items in the move, this is especially important when you hire movers.
